  21.   I INTRODUCTION

  23. RadioRaft version 2.1 is a DOS program capable of decoding many of the 
  24. radio data transmission modes found in the HF or shortwave radio bands. To 
  25. help in identification of unknown  signals, RadioRaft version 2.1 includes 
  26. a baud rate indicator, frequency  meter, and automatic mode detection. 
  27. Currently, RadioRaft can decode the following modes:
  28.  
  29.  - Baudot (RTTY)
  30.  - ASCII (7 bits or IRA, 8 bits and 8 bits+parity)
  31.  - SITOR-A (TOR/ARQ or AMTOR mode A)
  32.  - SITOR-B (TOR/FEC or AMTOR mode B)
  33.  - ARQ-E
  34.  - ARQ-M (ARQ-M2, ARQ-M4, ARQ-E3, SI-FEC)
  35.  - ARQ-N
  36.  - SI-ARQ
  37.  - SWED-ARQ
  38.  - ARQ-6/90 and ARQ-6/98
  39.  - CIS11
  40.  - SPREAD11, SPREAD21, SPREAD51
  41.  - AUTOSPEC
  42.  - FEC-A
  43.  - RUM-FEC
  44.  - HNG-FEC
  45.  - PACKET-RADIO (AX25)

  47.  - "DIGIT", this supplementary function allows for bit-by-bit display of 
  48. any mode.

  50. In order to run RadioRaft version 2.1 you will need at least:
  51. a PC AT 386 (a Pentium would be better), 650 Kb of hard disk space, 550 Kb 
  52. of free RAM, a VGA screen, a simple and inexpensive OP-AMP comparator 
  53. circuit (see circuit diagram in file RADIORFT.HLP) or more sophisticated 
  54. demodulator to pass the audio output of the radio receiver to the computer, 
  55. and access to serial port COM1 to COM 4.
  56. RadioRaft version 2.1 will only work on machines running MSDOS version 3.3 
  57. and above.

  61.   II LICENSE

  63. RadioRaft 2.1 is not public domain software.
  64.  
  65. RadioRaft 2.1 is a shareware. The master installation files may be freely 
  66. copied and distributed. Unauthorized sale of RadioRaft is strictly 
  67. prohibited. The software and/or manual may not be modified in any way 
  68. without the prior written  permission by the author. The distribution 
  69. and/or copying of the executable file RADIORAF.EXE created by the 
  70. installation is also prohibited.

  72. You are hereby granted a limited license to use this software for 
  73. evaluation purposes. If you would like to access the full range of features 
  74. that RadioRaft supports, you must contact an authorised dealer or make a 
  75. registration payment of US$30 to:

  84. See the file ORDER.TXT about the payment. You will then receive your 
  85. registration license and a confidential code. You must not give your 
  86. confidential code to others, as it permits the installation of the complete 
  87. version from the master files.

  89. The RadioRaft 2.1 evaluation version is limited to the reception of the 
  90. following modes: RTTY (Baudot), Sitor-A and B (Tor/fec/arq), ARQ-E, FEC-A, 
  91. DIGIT. The other modes can be detected or selected. Text will only be 
  92. displayed in a small window of 9 characters, except in Packet mode. All 
  93. other features are the same as the fully registered version.

  125. These files should all be in placed in a temporary directory (except if you 
  126. install from the RadioRaft diskette) and INSTALL.EXE must be run from 
  127. there.

  129. Type A: <Enter> if you install from a diskette.
  130. For installation of the English language version, enter: INSTALL <Enter>
  131.  
  132. The installation program will then prompt you to select the directory in 
  133. which to install RadioRaft. VERY IMPORTANT: CHOOSE A DIRECTORY DIFFERENT 
  134. FROM THAT CONTAINING THE MASTER INSTALLATION FILES.

  136. If you have not registered, you can install only the evaluation version. 
  137. The confidential registration code needed to install the complete version 
  138. is provided upon payment of the US $30 registration fee.
  139.  
  140. During installation, a subdirectory named \MASTER will be created under the 
  141. destination directory and the 15 master installation files will be copied 
  142. there. After installation, you can delete the temporary installation 
  143. directory and start RADIORAFT by typing RADIORAF.EXE at the MSDOS prompt 
  144. but it is suggested that you read the helpfile called RADIORAF.HLP which is 
  145. located in the \MASTER subdirectory of your RadioRaft directory. This file 
  146. can be read and printed with any MSDOS text editor. If you use the MSDOS 
  147. EDIT command, you should set the OPTION "TABS" to 4.

  149. The helpfile can also be read, but not printed, while RadioRaft is running.
  150. From the main screen, select the menu Help / Main help.

  165. (BUGS UPDATED 6/25/97) The measurement of the mean frequency of signals 
  166. with very large shift and high baud rate is not always correct. If that 
  167. happens, inhibit the "Signal Tracking" (menu Settings/AF interface). This 
  168. problem can occur with Packet 1200 bps.
