- I INTRODUCTION
-
- RadioRaft version 2.1 is a DOS program capable of decoding many of the
- radio data transmission modes found in the HF or shortwave radio bands. To
- help in identification of unknown signals, RadioRaft version 2.1 includes
- a baud rate indicator, frequency meter, and automatic mode detection.
- Currently, RadioRaft can decode the following modes:
-
- - Baudot (RTTY)
- - ASCII (7 bits or IRA, 8 bits and 8 bits+parity)
- - SITOR-A (TOR/ARQ or AMTOR mode A)
- - SITOR-B (TOR/FEC or AMTOR mode B)
- - ARQ-E
- - ARQ-M (ARQ-M2, ARQ-M4, ARQ-E3, SI-FEC)
- - ARQ-N
- - SI-ARQ
- - SWED-ARQ
- - ARQ-6/90 and ARQ-6/98
- - CIS11
- - SPREAD11, SPREAD21, SPREAD51
- - AUTOSPEC
- - FEC-A
- - RUM-FEC
- - HNG-FEC
- - PACKET-RADIO (AX25)
- - MORSE (CW)
- - "DIGIT", this supplementary function allows for bit-by-bit display of
- any mode.
-
- In order to run RadioRaft version 2.1 you will need at least:
- a PC AT 386 (a Pentium would be better), 650 Kb of hard disk space, 550 Kb
- of free RAM, a VGA screen, a simple and inexpensive OP-AMP comparator
- circuit (see circuit diagram in file RADIORFT.HLP) or more sophisticated
- demodulator to pass the audio output of the radio receiver to the computer,
- and access to serial port COM1 to COM 4.
- RadioRaft version 2.1 will only work on machines running MSDOS version 3.3
- and above.

- II LICENSE
-
- RadioRaft 2.1 is not public domain software.
-
- RadioRaft 2.1 is a shareware. The master installation files may be freely
- copied and distributed. Unauthorized sale of RadioRaft is strictly
- prohibited. The software and/or manual may not be modified in any way
- without the prior written permission by the author. The distribution
- and/or copying of the executable file RADIORAF.EXE created by the
- installation is also prohibited.
-
- You are hereby granted a limited license to use this software for
- evaluation purposes. If you would like to access the full range of features
- that RadioRaft supports, you must contact an authorised dealer or make a
- registration payment of US$30 to:
-
- Francois Guillet
- 17 rue Michel Delalande
- F-44800 St-Herblain France
-
- E-mail: F6FLT@TheOffice.net
- WEB site: http:\\ourworld.compuserve.com\homepages\F6FLT\
-
- See the file ORDER.TXT about the payment. You will then receive your
- registration license and a confidential code. You must not give your
- confidential code to others, as it permits the installation of the complete
- version from the master files.
-
- The RadioRaft 2.1 evaluation version is limited to the reception of the
- following modes: RTTY (Baudot), Sitor-A and B (Tor/fec/arq), ARQ-E, FEC-A,
- DIGIT. The other modes can be detected or selected. Text will only be
- displayed in a small window of 9 characters, except in Packet mode. All
- other features are the same as the fully registered version.

- III INSTALLATION
-
- Procedure:
-
- You need the 18 master installation files:
-
- FILE_ID.DIZ Text file of a RadioRaft introduction (English)
- RAFTFREQ.TXT Some short wave frequencies to help the beginner (English)
- README.TXT How to install (English)
- ORDER.TXT Order form for the registration (English)
- RADIORAF.HLP Help text file - Reference manual (English)
- INSTALL.EXE Installation program (English)
- RAFTC200.OVL RadioRaft 2.1, 1st program file
- RAFTL200.OVL RadioRaft 2.1, 2nd program file
-
- LISEZMOI.TXT How to install (French)
- COMMANDE.TXT Order form for the registration (French)
- RADIORFT.HLP Help text file - Reference manual (French)
- INSTALF.EXE Installation program (French)
-
- LIESMICH.TXT How to install (German)
- BESTELL.TXT Order form for the registration (German)
- RADIORDF.HLP Help text file - Reference manual (German)
-
- LEESMIJ.TXT How to install (Dutch)
- BESTEL.TXT Order form for the registration (Dutch)
- RADIORNT.HLP Help text file - Reference manual (Dutch)
-
- These files should all be in placed in a temporary directory (except if you
- install from the RadioRaft diskette) and INSTALL.EXE must be run from
- there.
-
- Type A: <Enter> if you install from a diskette.
- For installation of the English language version, enter: INSTALL <Enter>
-
- The installation program will then prompt you to select the directory in
- which to install RadioRaft. VERY IMPORTANT: CHOOSE A DIRECTORY DIFFERENT
- FROM THAT CONTAINING THE MASTER INSTALLATION FILES.
-
- If you have not registered, you can install only the evaluation version.
- The confidential registration code needed to install the complete version
- is provided upon payment of the US $30 registration fee.
-
- During installation, a subdirectory named \MASTER will be created under the
- destination directory and the 15 master installation files will be copied
- there. After installation, you can delete the temporary installation
- directory and start RADIORAFT by typing RADIORAF.EXE at the MSDOS prompt
- but it is suggested that you read the helpfile called RADIORAF.HLP which is
- located in the \MASTER subdirectory of your RadioRaft directory. This file
- can be read and printed with any MSDOS text editor. If you use the MSDOS
- EDIT command, you should set the OPTION "TABS" to 4.
-
- The helpfile can also be read, but not printed, while RadioRaft is running.
- From the main screen, select the menu Help / Main help.

- IV UPDATES and BUGS
-
-
- Ver. 2.00 - first version
- Ver. 2.01 - the whole english documentation is corrected
- - no modification of the executable files
- Ver. 2.12 - ports 3 and 4 are supported.
- - F2 key is added for screen clear.
- - the dutch documentation is provided.
-
-
- (BUGS UPDATED 6/25/97) The measurement of the mean frequency of signals
- with very large shift and high baud rate is not always correct. If that
- happens, inhibit the "Signal Tracking" (menu Settings/AF interface). This
- problem can occur with Packet 1200 bps.
-
-

- V REQUESTS
-
- Any new mode using FSK modulation can be included in RadioRaft. If you have
- the specifications for a mode that you think should be included in the next
- version of RadioRaft, please contact me. Comments and criticisms are
- welcome as well.
